Difficulty Level - Hard

Attention avid hikers! This section is for you!

Perdu Temps

This trail is located between Geneva and Delices on Dominica. At 610 m. (2,000 ft.) the trail takes about 5 hours and 4.8 miles through lush rain forest and descending up a very steep incline. This is a fun 6 hour hike across the island from the south coast to the east coast village of Delices, climbing over the Foundland mountain. Plenty of water and proper footwear are a must for this hike as you will cross over steams and climb slippery rocks along the way. Along the trail, you'll encounter the beautiful jaw dropping Jaco Falls.

Boiling Lake

Rate as the second boiling lake in the world, it is filled with bubbling greyish-blue water that is usually enveloped in a cloud of vapour. The lake spans approximately 200 feet to 250 feet across. This is a very  demanding 8.1-mile which is very taxing on the legs and is therefore only recommended for experienced hikers. Local guides are highly recommended.

The hike can be divided into three parts that take about one hour each. Leg1 begings in Laudat, at the  Ti Tou Gorge and ends at Breakfast River, where hikers can fill up with fresh water. Leg 2 continues up Morne Nicholls which has an altitude of 3,168 feet and ends at the top of the Valley of Desolation. Leg 3 starts with a dangerous descent into the Valley of Desolation, continuing a long hike until arriving at a peak overlooking boiling lake.T Along this path you wil past sulphur springs and hot pools. The boiling lake sits at the bottom of a large sinkhole-like basin. To give a more accurate picture - it is a flooded fumarole, an opening, crack or hole, in the Earth' s crust, generally located within the vicinity of a volcano, which emits steam and gases escaping from molten lava below. The lake can be seen from a broad, cliff-top ledge about 100 feet directly above its shore.

Morne Diablotin
The mother of all mountain in Dominica's  which peaks at 4,747ft. Tthe hike starts from Syndicate and climbs straight up for 3 hours. Along the route you will capture the Sisserou  parrots; pictureque views, an abundance of epiphytes, and various forest types.

Morne Trois Pitons

This five-hour (possible more) is among the toughest….quite possibly the hardest of all hikes in Dominica. Along the route you have opportunity to see amazingly spectacular views from a couple of places being mindful that the mountain is so often shrouded in clouds, there’s a chance you might miss it!

The hike starts at the Pont Casse roundabout (close to the C&W Cellular station), and climbs up from 2,000 ft to near the main summit at 4,500 feet. The trail goes up with little respite and where the slippy steps stop, be prepared to climb over and under trees, branches and roots. Oh, and there are two mini-cliff-faces to clamber up. And as if that wasn't hard enough, be warned: the razor grass can cut you to ribbons, so be advised to wear long trousers.

You can brief a sigh of relief at the lower part of the trail which is not too difficult and take you through some parts of the beautiful rainforest.
